Metricon, Victoria’s leading homebuilder, has revealed that a growing number of its customers are investing in home technology, considering it to be as important as the design or location of their new home.
Metricon’s Managing Director, Ross Palazzesi, said that Australians are embracing technology and the numbers are growing exponentially.
“Metricon home buyers that are visiting Studio M, our state-of-the-art selection centre, are incorporating extensive electrical systems into their homes, including home theatres, home security and networking, specifically future wiring for digital TV,” said Ross. “Our partners for electrical systems, Lifestyle National, are conveniently located at Studio M. Lifestyle National consultants provide a free service to our customers - expert advice on an electrical selection that suits their personal needs and budget.”
Manager of Lifestyle National, Paul Gilliard, said that over 50 percent of Australian households have home internet access.
“Home networking is a big trend, allowing families to share or access the internet, phone, video and TV throughout the home,” said Paul. “For instance, a cable TV set up in the home theatre room can be shared in any other room in the home that has a TV point.
“Metricon customers are including home theatre pre-wiring in their homes now to be ready for their future entertainment needs.“
Home buyers appreciate the real benefits of planning their future as well as current electrical needs. “While some families may not require shared access or multiple phone lines right now, they recognise that including home networking at the outset will allow for neater cabling and huge savings,” said Paul. “A home buyer could spend $5,000 on electricals, which could have cost as little as $1,500 if they included it in the planning stage. That is a big saving of $3,500.”
“When we design the cabling in our customer’s homes, we are also preparing them for future technologies.”
Home automation is continuing to grow as society is pushed for time, due to work, family and lifestyle commitments. “In the future, it will be commonplace to include automated features for heating, lighting, kitchen appliances and home security in your home,” said Paul. “And it will be standard practice to call home from your car, office or holiday spot to adjust your blinds, lighting, security or heating, just to name a few.”
Metricon customers are invited to Studio M, where they are offered the latest in design and technology and internal and external fixtures from kitchen, bathroom and carpets to electrical system and home theatre options.
