The basic backyard pool is used to be a symbol of affluence and luxury. But as Metricon designers find more sophisticated ways to incorporate pools into their creations – the idea of luxury takes on a different meaning.
“I think Melbourne has turned to the outside and is celebrating it” says Adrian, Metricon Product Development Manager. “I think people now have an appreciation that there are more ways of working around our weather.
We can put covers on pools, incorporate solar heating, and install outdoor fireplaces around the pools so that they can be used all year round.
With more pools accessible, at Metricon we are constantly defining ourselves by ensuring we take design and functionality that one step further. Look at our Imperial display in Balwyn or the Promenade and Lindrum at Keysborough all exemplify this.
Visual Appeal
Water features remain one of the most-requested aspects in landscaping a backyard. Whether it’s a fountain or waterfall, most people want something that is visually appealing as well as functional.
“Waterfalls can create a nice gentle sound and aesthetic appeal to the garden. In a lot of our inner-city homes, the sound of a waterfall is used to mask traffic noise,” offered Adrian.
“Most pools we incorporate into our displays double up as a water feature as well as an active pool. People are more and more concerned about the visual impact of the pool. In the past people would want the pool in the back of the yard as far away from the house as possible. Now you will see us almost integrating the pool with the home.”
Of course families these days are also looking for low-maintenance. And pools can be just that. You can now purchase systems that can automatically turn on everything from waterfalls, lights, cleaning devices and water circulation equipment to chemical maintenance. The only thing you will need to do is swim in them.
Outdoor rooms for all year round.
