To create warmth in your living room, try wallpapering or painting a feature wall in a bright colour. Red, yellow and orange are warm, friendly colours that can make a space seem cosier. Their intensity can be calmed with neutral shades for upholstery, lamps and rugs.
Metallic colours can also create a feeling of luxury and warmth.
“You can mix metallics – gold with bronze, gold with silver. And vary the intensity by using burnished or crumpled silver, or a tiny edge of metallic paint next to a near-black,” Tracey, Metricon Interior Designer suggests.
Boost the temperature of a room with woollen throw rugs and big, soft cushions covered in velvet or other textured fabrics.
“We are moving away from hard geometry to something more fun and humorous,” concluded Tracey.
