Results from recent testing conducted in Texas, USA showed this sleek, contemporary tile achieved a class three pass in the Ice Ball Resistance Test (FM-4470). This stringent test was initially developed in response to the American Insurance industry’s need to have better information to base their premium calculations on.
The test involves firing 44.5mm ice balls at a speed of 31 meters per second at test specimens of various roofing products to identify which materials better resist severe hail impact. The information gained through this testing has shown that heavy mass roofing products like roof tiles suffer less damage when subjected to impact by typical class three size hail stones.
As a consequence of these findings insurance companies in the United States are able to offer home owners who use roof tiles a discount on their annual premium. This independent testing clearly demonstrates that tiles like the Prestige will perform exceptionally well in a typical hail event with much less chance of sustaining any significant damage.
With an eye catching profile, alluring colours, low embodied energy, low maintenance properties, excellent sound insulation qualities and the strength to stand up to major hail conditions, the Prestige range creates a point of difference from traditional roofing materials.
