While the natural look and feel of timber flooring has universal appeal, many homeowners are uncertain about the logistics of laying timber in an apartment and the possible noise implications for neighbouring units.

Ideal for apartment living, Boral Silkwood engineered hardwood flooring has a pre-finished coating to allow access to the apartment a few hours after installation, and can be fitted with an underlay to decrease noise generated by foot traffic, helping to keep the neighbours on good terms.

Boral Timber has an exclusive underlay system (RV-4) that is lightweight, strong, durable and easy to install. It won’t deteriorate or gather mildew and meets international standards of acoustic testing (ISO 140.6 and 140.8).

Boral Silkwood can be laid over a variety of level, solid and dry subfloors including concrete slabs, particle board or plywood, tiles or old timber floors and looks and wears just like traditional solid flooring.

Thanks to its pre-finished surface, Boral Silkwood requires no messy sanding or polishing and is easy to clean and maintain as well as scratch resistant.
